Mrs. Long began her career in Bastrop, Louisiana, where she taught first, third, and fourth grades. In addition she has taught first and fourth grades fro the Grady School District. Her love of reading led her to focus on literacy, and seh has nine years of experience in literacy instruction. She has served as the district literacy specialist (grades K-12) for the Watson Chapel School District; the Reading Excellence literacy coach (grade 1-3) for the Grady School District; and as the instrucitonal specialist (grades 6-8) for the Lee County School District. During her employment at the Watson Chapel School District, she was a trainer for Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas (ELLA), Effective Literacy, and Smart Step: Stratigies for the Content Area. She also provided assessment training such as Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS), the Development Reading Assessment (DRA), and the Developmental Spelling Assessment (DSA). She was instrumental in helping Watson Chapel School District procure a one million dollar Reading First grant. Mrs. Long was selected to receive the Administrator for Reading award from the Jefferson County Reading Council in 2008. She also achieved National Board Certification that year Mrs. Long has worked part-time from 2006-2010 as an assessor and grant writer for ECS. She began full time employment with the company in 2010. Currently, she works with various schools in the area leadership, professional development, and school improvement.
